Update on How Can We Help the People of Bahamas

Leos and My Fellow Lions over the last two weeks we have reached out to our contacts across the Region and at the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) in order to provide you with information on a clearer path on how you can help. In the meantime, efforts have started in Region 2 where Lions Clubs have been designated NGOs and are assisting and have direct contact with the District Governor in charge of the Bahamas. What is emerging is that there will be different paths that Clubs may encounter, and we are supporting those efforts.

Our main thrust remains channeling our support (where other action is not already underway as in the case of Region 2) through CDEMA. The challenge is that given the magnitude of the response and recovery effort and the extent of coordination needed CDEMMA has been very busy and this has meant that we have been unable to speak with CDEMA directly, but we do have from their website (see below links) reports on the situation on the ground.

I have appointed Lion Eural Baptiste District Coordinator of Environmental and Climate Change (This email address is being protected from spambots. Please contact him for guidance in this matter he is already working to establish contact. In the meantime we await an official response from CDEMA to our offer for assistance. We have also reached out to PCC Nadine Buschell to help us on this matter. We will keep you posted as the matter remains high priority.
