LIONISTIC YEAR 2017 -2018

Enhance our membership experience by celebrating the achievements and successes of our members.

STRENGTHEN OUR ABILITY TO SERVE

Strengthen our ability to serve more persons through a minimum net membership growth of three (3) Lions per club.

REENERGISE OUR LEO MOVEMENT

Reenergise our LEO movement by exploring opportunities for membership growth and development; as well as hosting a Leo Leadership Conference.

Reshape public opinion and improve visibility of the Lions brand in the district by effective public relations and communication through the traditional and social media as well as our web presence.

INTENSIFY OUR SERVICE IMPACT

Intensify our service impact by conceptualising and executing relevant and meaningful projects in our communities.

Core Areas

Training and Development

Clubs are encouraged to provide opportunities of club officer training for all incoming officers by May 30, 2018 and to establish and implement succession plans for leadership.

Potential leaders should be identified and developed to eliminate the need to recycle officers.

Membership Experience and Growth

Clubs are encouraged to enrich the experiences of members and provide opportunities to celebrate their successes and achievements.

Each club should seek to achieve a minimum net growth of three members.

LEOS
and
Youth

We must work harder to stabilise our Leo movement. Each Lion should promote our Leo clubs and seek to introduce at least one young person to a Leo club.

Clubs are encouraged to create and implement youth programs to provide our young generation with positive life skills, promote literacy and self-confidence through our Lion Services for Children, Reading Action, and Lions Quest programs.

Public Relations and Communications

Clubs are encouraged to support their members’ effort by publicising their service work.

To achieve this, each club should establish a Public Relations and Communication role, whose task would be to utilise the media and internet to promote the Lions brand and the excellent service provided by Lions and Leos.

Health and Wellness

Clubs must organise and promote Health and Wellness service projects to educate and bring awareness to their communities in the following areas:
  • Hearing and sight preservation; the prevention of non-communicable diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension, etc; cancer; HIV/AIDS; mental illness; and any other health challenges.
Clubs are also encouraged to promote wellness and healthy lifestyles as avenues to improve personal health.

Family and Women

Clubs should promote the participation of family in their projects and provide training and leadership opportunities for women.

As part of this promotion, clubs should publicise and highlight the service work and contributions made by women and family members.

Environment

Clubs should organize service and educational projects to bring awareness of the need to retain and sustain a healthy and green environment.

Environmentally focused projects such as recycling, tree planting and community cleanup, etc. should be undertaken.

Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF)

Clubs are encouraged to celebrate the successes and achievements of their members by recognizing those deserving persons with the Melvin Jones Fellowship award.

Such actions will result in greater participation of the District towards the fulfilment of the Foundation’s mission “To support the efforts of Lions clubs and partners in serving communities locally and globally, giving hope and impacting lives through humanitarian service projects and grants."

Relieving Hunger

Clubs are encouraged to conceptualized and implement projects to relieve hunger in their community.

Projects such as breakfast and lunch programs in school, distribution of food items to deserving persons in their communities etc.

Programs that assist persons to provide food for themselves in a sustainable way should be implemented.
